Spicy Margaritas

I used to be mystified by mixing cocktails at home.  Turns out, it’s not that complicated once you’ve got the proportions down. And no, there’s no mixes or extras needed. It’s just tequila, citrus, simple syrup (it’s called simple for a reason!), and a little jalapeño for kick. Cheers to that!

INGREDIENTS

2 oz 100% agave tequila

3/4 oz simple syrup

3/4 oz lime juice

1/4 jalapeño

DIRECTIONS

Shake all ingredients over ice until shaker is frosty. Strain and pour in a salt-rimmed glass. Garnish with lime.

To make simple syrup, combine equal parts water (for instance 1/2 cup) and sugar (1/2 cup) in a sauce pan. Bring to a gentle simmer until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Let cool and combine into cocktail of choice.
